Nathan's 2 Week Check-up

Getting ready to leave the house for the second time.

Today we went for Nathan's two week check-up. Everything went great! He weights 7 lbs. 12.5 oz. which means he has gained a total of 3.5 oz. since birth. The soctor said I no longer have to wake him up to eat. I have been waking him up every 3.5 hours to eat, but since he is such a great eater, I can now wait for him to decide when he is hungry. The doctor also said his circumcision looks great and his umbilical cord (which fell off last Thursday) looks great. That means no more gauze while changing diapers and no more alcohol wipes! This also means that Nathan can take his first real bath! YEAH! We also got clearance to travel to Oklahoma for Christmas and to start using bottles whenever we are ready. (We can use 1 bottle every day or every other day) She put him on a multi-vitamin because even though he is getting plenty of vitamins from me, vitamin D is one he can't get from me. The doctor said he is very healthy!

There are a couple of things that Nathan has been doing that we think are pretty cool. He is able to hold his head up for extended periods of time. We weren't sure if this is normal or not, but the doctor said today that only 10-15% of babies at this point can hold their heads up. She said that just means he's got great muscle tone. Here are a couple of pictures my mom took this afternoon of him holding his head up during tummy time (it was his first day of doing tummy time, and he didn't cry for about 10 minutes, when he had a meltdown).

He really likes the monkey in this picture.

Another thing that Nathan does that we think is pretty funny is that he holds his pacifier in his mouth with his hand. This is the only picture we have of him doing it, but I will try to get a better one soon.

After Nathan's doctor's appointment we ran a couple of errands. Since my mom went with us to the doctor, we went with her to Frontenac to return some clothes and stopped by to see what Santa was doing. Tomorrow we are going to try to go back and sit on Santa's lap! After that we went to Target. It was a weird feeling to walk into a store and to see so many people! I really haven't been in public since November 25th, so I enjoyed my time out of the house!
