Happy 2 Months Will!

Will turned two months old on Monday. He sure has changed a lot in two months! We went to the doctor on Saturday for his two-month well check-up and he did great. At two months Will is:

  • Smiling, not a whole lot but he really likes to smile at the point where the walls meet the ceiling. It is pretty funny!
  • Cooing! He will talk and talk to us. He also "scolds" me if I leave him waiting too long!
  • Almost rolling from stomach to back. He almost did it as the doctor's office and Dr. Flug said it is only a matter of time before he does it! (Nathan did it at 2 months, 9 days)
  • Sleeping through the night! He has the strangest schedule though. He sleeps what seems like all day. Then he wakes up about 6:30 or 7 and stays up until 8:30. He then takes a nap from 8:30-9:00 and then is up until anywhere from 11:30-12:30. We try really hard to keep him awake from 8:30-9, but it is nearly impossible! Hopefully we can bump up his sleeping time because once I go back to work I will be getting up at about 5:30 to get ready for work! Once he goes to sleep, he will sleep from anywhere between 7 and 9, depending on when he fell asleep. He usually sleeps about 8 hours a night. Once he wakes up, he is up for about an hour and then takes a nap.
  • Sleeping in the bassinet still. This is going to sound bad, but I think it will be harder for me to have him sleep in his room than him! I am so used to having him sleep in the room with me while Joe is gone, I just don't know what I'll do when he isn't with me at night! Right now he is sleeping in his bouncer because he has been sick, but he will start sleeping in the bassinet in his room sometime in the next couple of weeks while Joe is home for spring break.
  • Strong! He loves tummy time, as long as he is on someone while doing it, and can push up with his arms very well. He also pushes up with his feet and kicks a lot. This doesn't really surprise me since he kicked SO much while I was pregnant with him.
  • A snuggler. He would let us hold him 24 hours a day! If we hold him and put him on our chests as he is getting sleepy, he will fall asleep in no time!
  • Enjoying his baths more. We figured out he does better if he is in an enclosed area like the sink. He cries in the bathtub. He is the same way about sleeping. He won't sleep in the pack-n-play, but sleeps very well in the bassinet.
  • Wearing 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers.
  • Met his Nana for the first time when she came to visit a few weeks ago. He loved having her around to hold him!
  • A trooper! He had his first ear infection this week and had to take his first round of antibiotics because of it! I didn't really want for him to have to be on medications so early, but I figure it is better to have him on antibiotics than have his eardrum burst and have to have him on pain meds for a long time! The doctor said that he was surprised he wasn't more fussy because with as bad as his ear infection way and the junk he had in his lungs, he was in a lot of pain. (Will aspirated on Monday night when he threw up the first time and has had a rattling chest ever since. It is getting better though!) He is almost all better now, which makes me very happy, and him I'm sure, too!
  • Isn't really into the swing, bouncer, or gym. He is so different from Nathan because Nathan could be entertained for hours by one of those items. We are on the go a lot more though, so it could be be because we don't have a whole lot of time for them!
  • Going to have blue eyes! His eyes have really turned blue this month. He also has blond hair, which is absolutely C-R-A-Z-Y! He has cowlicks like I've never seen and we can barely get it to lie down. He will probably have to have very short haircuts!
  • A big boy! He weighed 13 lbs. 4 oz., was 23" long, and his head circumference was 15 1/2". (For comparison purposes, at Nathan's two-month appointment (which was actually when he was almost 2 1/2 months old) he was 14 lbs. 7 oz., 24" long, and his head circumference was 15 3/4".)
