Third Birthday Party

For Nathan's third birthday we decided to have a Thomas the Train birthday party.  He LOVED it!  We talked it up ahead of time so by the time we actually had the party, he was READY!  I made a few signs for our yard, decorated our wagon to look like a train for the kids to ride in, and made train "garland" to hand inside.  Joe went and picked up too many balloons to decorate with indoors and to give each kid as they left.  Each kid got a bandana and a conductor's hat to wear during the party. 

The best part for Joe and me was to watch Nathan open his gift from us.  My parents kept him on Friday night and Joe and I spent the evening finishing up his train table.  Luckily we got it put together in a couple of hours and covered it with a sheet before Nathan arrived home in the morning.  When he got home, Joe pulled the sheet back and Nathan was so excited to see he new train table!  Of course Will loves it too, but he loves it in a destructive way...like we have to put the tracks back together every other minute kind of way!

Nathan also opened his gift from Nana and Grandpa before his guests arrived.  They gave him a Thomas the Train birthday train and car.  It plays the Thomas theme music!  The sweetest thing Nathan did is see that Will was trying to grab for one of his trains and offer his new (and favorite) Thomas the Train for Will to play with!

On to the rest of the party.  We had P'sghetti's sandwich as always thanks to my parents, a veggie tray, apple slices, wheels (instead of macaroni) and cheese, hot wing dip, veggie chips, goldfish, and pretzels.  I ordered his cake from the culinary class at school.  At first I thought they were just going to do a train cake, but when I went to pick it up it was a Thomas cake!  They did such an amazing job and I can't wait for them to make Will's cake, too!

The kids played so well together.  We had Nathan's new train table inside and then another train table that my mom had at her house outside.  The weather was warm enough that the kids were able to go on "train rides"outside and play with the train table while they waited.  

Nathan's favorite part of the whole party was his cake.  He was so patient in waiting for his chance to blow out the candles and eat his #3.  He is the sweetest boy.  He even came up to me in the middle of the party, hugged my leg, and said "thank you Mommy for the party!"  Love him!!!

Now to start planning Will's first birthday.  Two birthday parties in less that two months-ahhh!!!
