During the summer after my sophomore year of college, I went on a study abroad program through Baylor that allowed me to study in Monterrey and Guaymas, Mexico. There were four of us total from Baylor, but we got put into a larger group in both cities. Most of us traveled from Monterrey to Guaymas to study together and we all became very close. We were like siblings because we were seriously in a strange country and there were only two of us that could really communicate with the Mexicans.
We always swore we'd have a reunion. You know, like at camp where you feel so close to everyone and the first thing you do is start writing letters and sending instant messages to see how everyone is doing because you haven't seen then in 12.2 hours? That was us. We were SO SO SO close. I loved it. But then, we lost touch...
Then a couple of weeks ago, one of the girls, Parnetta, came down from Chicago to see a play at The Fox and emailed to see if we wanted to meet up for dinner. I was so so so excited to see her again because she was quite possibly my favorite person from the group. We met up at Union Station and ate at an Italian restaurant before taking a short walk around Union Station and then dropping her off at the bus station. It was nice to catch up during dinner and meeting her cousin. Hopefully it won't take us 10 years to do something like this again!
Parnetta brought a book with her that she had us all write notes to her in before we left Guaymas to come back to the states. In it, a few of the people mention how we will have a reunion in Vegas-ha! Instead, Parnetta and I sent messages to everyone on Facebook and showed them how the real reunion went...hope they didn't feel left out! :)
