Fourth of July, a play date, and a train ride

Thankfully Joe didn't have to work on the Fourth of July this year, so we had a family day all day long!  We had so much fun!  We started off by going to QT for a quick family donut date.  The boys shared red, white, and blue star sprinkles donut holes.

Does this boy ever smile for pictures?
Then we headed to Lowe's to pick up a few more items for the bathrooms.  We are remodeling our bathrooms and the contractor comes Tuesday to start ripping the master bathroom apart, so we have been going to the hardware store multiple times a week.  I have enjoyed picking out all of the different things we need though!  Anyway, on the way out of Lowe's they have riding lawn mowers and Nathan always asks to "drive" them.  This time Will wanted to get in on the action, too!

Then we came home and I started to get food ready for our Fourth of July lunch.  Then Will pulled the pasta salad pasta out of the bag and threw it all over the floor and off to Ruby Tuesday's we went!  :)  After lunch we ran a couple of more errands and came home for naps.  After nap it was time to get ready for outdoor fun!  I grilled apple chicken sausages inside on the grill pan and made baked beans.  We ate a small dinner, made huge ice cream sundaes and then headed outside to play on the slip n' slide!  It was Will's first time and at first he wasn't sure.  By the time he was at the bottom on his first trip down, he was smiling and laughing!  We also took out the baby pool and water table.  By the end of the night we were all soaked, but it was a great way to cool off in the above 100 degree weather!  (10 days above 100 degrees means cooling off any way you can!)

On Friday Crystal, her son Bennett, and Jenn and her son Jamie Jr. came over for a play date.  We ended up staying inside because Crystal is 7 months pregnant and it was so so so hot outside.  The kids played in the basement and we *talked*.  Talking is so much more difficult when you have little kids!  So glad we have a lunch date planned tomorrow sans kiddos so we can really catch up!

Friday afternoon I had to go pick up the tile for the bathrooms so I decided to run up to The Mills mall to let the boys play on the indoor playground for a while since playing outside really isn't an option with the weather.  After playing we had Subway for dinner.  Nathan wanted to ride the train so we dropped everything off at the car and found this cool fire truck sitting in the parking lot to ride in on our way back to the train:
The boys were so excited to see the train coming!
Once on the train I asked Nathan to smile for a picture.  He smiled for three pictures and his eyes were closed in all three-ha!  He thought that was so funny!  At least Will is smiling AT the camera. :)
Ready to go!  All aboard!
